74HCS series?

Has anyone looked at TI's new (as of 2019) 74HCS series for use as glue logic? A brief look at the docs indicates propagation delays between HC and AHC with somewhat lower power demand. HCS has no DIP packages, and functional variety that's broader than AHC but not so much as HC (note: I haven't ...

Re: Fake Kynar wire and not fake ISSI SRAMs

The 1996 and 1998 versions of the IS61C1024 datasheet include the 300 mil DIP package (1996 lists a 400-mil DIP as well). It was removed in the 1999 version.

I'm trying to determine if the MC6828s I bought are real & functioning but I'll make a separate thread for that.

Re: What UART should i use for my first computer?

I'm also a bit late but wanted to note that Technological Arts (http://www.technologicalarts.ca/) offers some very nice PLCC adapters. The socket is vertically mounted so the whole thing takes the same space as a very long IC. They're working on a new site so you can't buy just now but I've bought a ...

Yes, and I have an OS that will let me run the GALBlast software and access that port.

Re: Anyone using GAL's in your projects?

Rochester Electronics sells a few varieties of GALs, but they have (roughly) a $250 minimum order. I confess I've toyed with the idea of plunking down for 50 or so GAL26CV12s: https://www.rocelec.com/part/latlatgal26cv12c-15lp

Re: Help with beginner/basic 6502 project

It worked! It worked it worked it worked! :happydance:

I don't understand why it didn't work the way it did...er, didn't?...before, but changing the BIT operand and correcting the JMP instructions did the trick.

Next step will be to construct/acquire a better programmer (currently using Ben Eater ...

Re: Help with beginner/basic 6502 project

Hello, TomC. One thing jumped out at me, and that's these last two opcodes. Is this a transcription error that occurred when you wrote your post? Or do you really have $FC in there? The opcode for JMP abs is $4C, of course, just as you've used earlier in your code.

I just double-checked, and I ...

Re: Help with beginner/basic 6502 project

My first thought was that the ROR was doing sign extension, but the WDC programming manual indicates that that's not the case. I feel like I've missed something obvious; would one of the experienced users have time to critique my work? Thanks in advance.

Help with beginner/basic 6502 project

Hello all,

I've been trying to build a very simple 65C02 system as a learning project, but I must be misinterpreting or misunderstanding something.

My goal is to use a WDC 65C02 to run a program stored in a 28C256, that uses a 74HCT373 to light eight LEDs in sequence, D7 to D0 (i.e. one LED lit at ...

Possible Atmel GAL programmer

I just stumbled onto this website, which purports to offer a homebrew programmer for Atmel's 16v8 and 22v10 chips: http://www.bhabbott.net.nz/atfblast.html

You need a computer with a parallel port; maybe he'll upgrade it to use USB at some point.

Re: VGA has five years to live

PS/2 equipment is also used in high-data security environments. When my previous employer sent people to Goldman Sachs in the early 2000s they found that GS policy called for disabling the USB ports on every company system.

I'm still bummed that parallel ports have almost entirely vanished.

Re: Starting with ATMEL CPLDs: ATF1504AS

This place in Canada has some nice-looking adapters, including vertical PLCC-DIP adapters that could save a lot of room on a breadboard:
