Replacing a 6502 with 65816
Re: Replacing a 6502 with 65816
Reviving this very old post - Garth told me that WDC has started producing the 65816 in TQFP again. While I have still not built this adapter and don't have any need to for my own purposes, I will help anyone who is interested in giving this adapter a try. There was a recent post that mentions a way to convert ExpressPCB board layout files to standard Gerber files. This might make it easier and less expensive to get a batch of boards produced.
Any interest?

I understand you can order them right now straight from WDC, but not from the distributors. I would call them up with credit card in hand.

The "second front page" is http://wilsonminesco.com/links.html .
What's an additional VIA among friends, anyhow?

Ah yes, I see you're not in the U.S.. Unfortunately that's always a problem for expensive shipping. Maybe they can tell you where to get them in Europe. Whatever you find, let us know, as it will probably warrant updating our 65xx parts sources sticky topic.
Edit: I see WDC has it in their "How to order" page, at http://westerndesigncenter.com/wdc/HowToOrder.cfm .

Well, I just copied the line and pasted it above, and it says it's the '02. I'll try to remember to call them today for you. (They will open in four or five hours, when I'm sleeping.)

Ed just pointed out that somehow I got on the '02 when you were looking for the '816. I'll ask about both.

Again, I believe John is particular about wanting the TQFP not the PLCC.

Looking back to Daryl's note, he says the information came from Garth. I wonder: Garth, could you confirm or correct?
