Reviving this very old post - Garth told me that WDC has started producing the 65816 in TQFP again. While I have still not built this adapter and don't have any need to for my own purposes, I will help anyone who is interested in giving this adapter a try. There was a recent post that mentions a way to convert ExpressPCB board layout files to standard Gerber files. This might make it easier and less expensive to get a batch of boards produced.

Any interest?

Daryl

The software of which you speak is "Copper Connection," which you can get at robotroom.com. The software will indeed load an EPCB PCB file, but will not resave it in Gerber/Exellon format unless you pay for a license for the program.

I understand you can order them right now straight from WDC, but not from the distributors. I would call them up with credit card in hand.

What's an additional VIA among friends, anyhow?

I'll drop them an email. They don't appear on any of the relevant websites.

Ah yes, I see you're not in the U.S.. Unfortunately that's always a problem for expensive shipping. Maybe they can tell you where to get them in Europe. Whatever you find, let us know, as it will probably warrant updating our 65xx parts sources sticky topic.

Edit: I see WDC has it in their "How to order" page, at http://westerndesigncenter.com/wdc/HowToOrder.cfm .

No, they don't. Just the DIP and PLCC.

That has been there for ages. This is about the 816. Or as 8BIT put it :

Well, I just copied the line and pasted it above, and it says it's the '02. I'll try to remember to call them today for you. (They will open in four or five hours, when I'm sleeping.)

Ed just pointed out that somehow I got on the '02 when you were looking for the '816. I'll ask about both.

Again, I believe John is particular about wanting the TQFP not the PLCC.

6502, 65816. DIP, PLCC, TQFP. It all seems to be a big blur for some, today.

Looking back to Daryl's note, he says the information came from Garth. I wonder: Garth, could you confirm or correct?
