alright so here's the situation i have loads of yellow wire that is mildly too short and already cut and stripped and no uncut yellow wire. the issue is i still have around 20-30 yellow wires to hook up and i'm not sure if its a good idea to tie the wires together considering ben eater was so worried about the spare electricity with much cleaner and better wiring and a higher quality breadboards.

I'm generally of a mindset that you'll find it much easier to trace things if you keep the wiring neat and tidy. I spent a good deal of time cutting wire to exact lengths in my Eater like setup.

I recognize that might be too fiddly for some, but I would at least suggest keeping like with like and tying them together. I also recommend settling on a given color of wire for a specific purpose if you can. For me yellow are address, blue is data, and green are control signals for example; I found this was a big help in troubleshooting things quickly.

Keep it neat and tidy if possible - that's going to be the biggest issue on breadboards with flying wires like that.

I think the main advantage of being tidy comes from when you need to debug. You probably will need to debug. If you are lucky, or very skilled and careful by nature, or by experience, you might not need to debug.

One thing to add about my last project - I used different coloured wires for different purposes. That really helped me.

One thing to keep in mind, when you have a lot of long wires like that bundling them together can increase the risk of cross-talk. (That said, Radical Brad didn't seem to have any problems with his big bundles of very long wires. Then again, he used a lot of buffers.)
