Re: Audio IC

Another very 80s style chip is the AY-3-8910. http://www.microtan.ukpc.net/pageProducts.html (search for 'sound cards') contains two examples of connecting it to the 6502 bus.

Re: VGA6448, text-based VGA in ATF1504AS CPLD

Bill,

Very nice - I must finish off assembling the CRC65 board and wait for the gerbers for the VGA board!

Thanks,

Re: Just Started The Design For My First 8-Bit Computer!

I too have used JLC PCB with considerable success. I would make a few points:-
Delivery is usually pretty quick although not necessarily so
Consider splitting different boards up into multiple orders. It sounds counter intuitive but the additional postage is worth it to keep individual packages ...

Re: Complete Beginner Here! How do you even get a 65c02?

There are several people selling them on ebay.co.uk and a variety of speeds and types (NMOS or CMOS) are available starting at about £5 including P & P.

Of course, 'buyer beware' etc.

Re: When, specifically, did you get enamoured by the 6502?

Like most people who hide out here, I first came across the 6502 in the late 70s - the Microtan 65 system to be precise. The Commodore Pet (singular) was the computer at school although it was only ever programmed in Basic. The Microtan 65 was a typical niche machine from that time that had 1k of ...

Re: Video Chips on Mouser...

There's another example here http://geoffg.net/terminal.html that gives 80 x 24 (ish) into VGA and 44 x 15 (NTSC) or 48 x 18 (PAL) to composite. It uses a through-hole ATMEL chip - does that count?

Something that's been in the back of mind is to see if, rather than communicating via the serial is ...

Re: Javascript 6502 emulator

It works well under Chrome - speed reported is a bit 'lumpy' varying between about 28MHz and 35MHz. The processor it's running on is a 2.7GHz Core i7-6820HQ on Windows 10.

Thanks for sharing.

It might considered bad form but we had this discussion over at the Retrobrew Computer's website. (https://www.retrobrewcomputers.org/forum/index.php?t=msg&th=335&goto=5357&#msg_5357).

The conclusion was that you needed to use the TL866-II with at least version 8.07 of the software. The version II ...

Tangerine Microtan 65 'High Resolution Graphics' Diagram

Hi,

I have located circuit diagrams for a number of the cards produced by Tangerine for their 6502-based system (aka Microtan 65) except for the 'high resolution graphics' (relatively speaking - it was 256x256!) card.

Can anyone supply me with a copy?

Thanks,

Simon

I just wanted to publically thank BitWise for organising this 'group' purchase - now I just need to get around to building the things that the bits I now have are for!

I'm interested in getting at least some more parts.

How soon do you need to know precise part number, quantity and packaging?

Re: 6502 Sandbox

Okay - feature creep! An idea that's been floating around my head for a while is to make a board very similar to this but with the following changes:-

1) Provide hardware SPI support using something akin to Daryl's 65SPI chip http://sbc.rictor.org/65spi.html . Daryl's design (and I apologise for ...

Re: WDC ProSDK via 65XX.com

$40 for an '816 compiler and simulator (plus the other tools) is not at all bad IMHO.

However, I've downloaded the tools package and installed it on Win7 64 bit and it won't start - BORLNDMM.DLL missing. While waiting for my registration at the 65xx.com to be approved has anyone else had this ...

Very interesting - especially with the extended IO options. I like the idea of the 'easily' solderable pins although I'll need to get some new glasses for the FPGA!

The Oric was a system built by the British company Tangerine as a successor to their Microtan system. The Atmos was a successor to the Oric. For further detail see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oric_Atmos

While interest in the UK has waned there seems to be a degree of interest in mainland Europe ...
