Here is the video for those who do not like/cannot get to FB. I had to zip it as the forum does not allow .mp4 files.
Thanks

Re: Laser cut acrylic 6502 available
I can try uploading it here tomorrow - not sure what the forum size limits are. BTW - should not need a Facebook account to view the video - it is on a public page.
Thanks
Chris

Re: Laser cut acrylic 6502 available
DWG plans for cut are attached here - instructions are in the file.
This relies heavily on the work of the visual6502 team - thanks to those guys.

Re: Laser cut acrylic 6502 available
Layer are approx. 180*200mm (although scaling to other sizes is relatively easy.
I will probably design some illumination - might be a bit down the track as working through all the cutouts for the lights takes a while.

Laser cut acrylic 6502 available
I have been playing around with cutting old microprocessors on my laser cutter - started with the 4004 and with the help of the 6502 community have now produced a 5 layer version of the 6502 - see attached photo. I have posted a video that give a better view of how the layers are arranged:

Re: 6502 Vector image
Have cut the last 2 layers - labelled poly and subsplits. This is still a bit prototype - had a scaling issue with the vias so they don't line up correctly.

Re: 6502 Vector image
First cut of the 6502 - this is the metal layer - should not really have worried so much about the logos as they have ended up pretty small. Took about 45 mins on the laser which is not too bad.

Re: 6502 Vector image
Spent some time last night outlining and cleaning the logos and test patterns. To me it looks like the 65 and .D are on multiple layers - maybe all? Might have time to do some cutting tonight.

Re: 6502 Vector image
It looks like the branding was removed from the SVG image - its certainly not there in the emulator - will have a look at the layers when I get home.
It looks like the original die had different letters of 6502.D on different layers. Should not be too difficult to vector it from the image and drop ...

Re: 6502 Vector image
So thanks to BigEd located the SVG file but could not get it to convert to DXF to load into autocad - the converted file just errored and crashed my ancient Autocad. 2nd approach was to load up inkscape (again thanks BigEd) and use inkscape to separate out the layers and save them out as DXF - this ...

Re: 6502 Vector image
Actually lighting is what I do - this was just a quick side project to test out what the laser could cut.

So yes I will probably try a side lit version of this, have all the bit I need in the shed including a whole lot of WS2812B ...

Re: 6502 Vector image
I need to run it through autocad to clean it up and separate out the layers for the laser cutter - should only be 2x as complicated as the 4004 so hopefully will cut OK. Will try to get it done tonight (Australia time) and post some photos tomorrow.

Re: 6502 Vector image
That look exactly like what I want - do not have autocad at work so will run it up when I get home - should cut OK.
I am surprised that the transistor count of the 6502 is 3510 vs 2300 for the 4004 - would expect it to be higher.
Not sure what you mean by pale coloured stock? - it is not obvious ...

6502 Vector image
Hi,
Hope this is not presumptuous for a newbie...
I have been laser cutting some 4004 dies into acrylic (just for fun) and was thinking of doing the same for a 6502. I had a look at the visual6502 simulator but the vector files seem to be embedded in a javascript file. Does anyone know where I can ...
