Re: Coding for a modular synthesizer keyboard help

If you support a singly linked list of, say, 12-16 notes then you can support as many keys as can be reasonably held down with 2 hands. When a key is released you scan the list and remove it. If you remove it from the head, then the new head becomes the new note to play.

If you want to support the ...

Re: OT: A Generation of Semi-Useless "Workers"

here's a recent list Thanks for that.

If you see yourself as primarily an embedded software engineer, then I'm seeing a lack of focus in that list. I'd avoid anything other than actual programming (anything with "support" or "field" in the title), or "junior" (indicating a company focus on new ...

Re: OT: A Generation of Semi-Useless "Workers"

I try to explain to people that I've applied for over 3000 jobs in the last 15 years, and they don't believe me.
And the maddening frustration with recruiters who see "software engineer" means "IT" means "IT Engineer" which means.... furniture removal. "What are you complaining about, you're ...

Re: OT: A Generation of Semi-Useless “Workers”

Some random thoughts from what I've seen in the Bay Area:

Some job postings with strangely specific requirements are often tailored to apply strongly to the H1-B renewal, transfer, or Green Card application of the candidate that's already in, or has been chosen for, the job. The law says these ...

Re: VHDL on 6502?

I think this is a fantastic idea. Good luck with it!

Be sure to update us all here with your progress!!! Some posters have a habit of talking about ideas but never following through with implementation. I know I've done that myself, but work and real life tends to use up the time I'd rather spend ...

on this one, mostly me right now, its just a Specification though to come back to later. Gotcha.

for my other project, Tinker http://forum.6502.org/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=7589 That's pretty neat. Looks like it's been a work-in-progress for two years now. How's it going? Do you have a completed ...

Re: MGS -- Modern Gaming Specification v0.3 (tbd)

Hey wayfarer,

Just curious about this project. You say, "we" and "our"... Sounds like it's a serious effort! If you don't mind answering, how big is the current team, and what kinds of disciplines do they have?

Cheers and good luck!

Re: First micro or computing experiences

My first computer was the Timex 1000, but between the slow execution, the keyboard and the crashing when the 16KB RAM module was installed, I never bonded with it. It is, however, quite compact, so it was a perfectly closet compatible computer until some of my things were damaged by flooding in a ...

Re: Emulating NES CPU and PPU on PIC32, too slow?

With modern architectures, where the fast-clocked CPU core is attached to fast cache backed by (relatively) slow memory, it's important to keep as much hot code and data in the caches as you can.

In the PIC32MZ, I'd suggest turning on microMIPS support (where many instructions use 16-bit opcodes ...

Re: PICO vga/uart/ps/2

As an aside: the new RP2350 has some serious bugs in the IO relating to accidental latchup. Some of this is documented, some is still being investigated, but it looks rather as if new silicon is required. It seems an external IP supplier didn't get the IO pins quite right... It happens, and it's ...
