Re: My first SBC is finally alive!

Great job on solving the issues on wiring :)
And I can sign on the statement that oscilloscope is the tool for a hacker, you've gotten in to using it quite well in short span of time too ;)

Been a while as I've had time for belowed hobby...
I purchased the Orca/C setup and installed it to kegs hard drive image.
I'm currently trying to get a grip again on C language itself as well as how Orca works in general to be able to get standard library built for '265 target.
Can't say I'm that ...

Cheap 65c816 compiler

I've tried to get LCC to work on barebones 65265 mcu but the task is next to impossible, thanks to wings deps.
However, on random surfing I found http://store.syndicomm.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=62 which will run on http://kegs.sf.net apple IIgs emulator with apple abandonware ...

Hi.

GNU binutils package at least seems to compile asm for 65c816 cpu( ./configure --target=w65816), haven't had too much luck yet to get the gdb compiled with same target (and gcc is lightyears away from me).
Another option besides uCLinux would perhaps be ELKS (http://elks.sf.net) but it'd ...

GNU tools for our cpus

Hi all.

I noticed a while back site www.gnuxtools.com which provides $$$ compiled gnu assebler for 65xx/65xxx cpus.
From that info I went and picked up the binutils, gdb and gcc latest packages from ftp.gnu.org and though if I'd get lucky. Result was: binutils compiled and seems to provide correct ...

Hi all.

Project to get the simm to a board is frozen currently.
National semiconductors has DP8422A dram controller which supports up to 4M x 1 bit chips, manageable to drive 8 bit simm with some buffering. Price wasn't right though and they aren't providing samples.

For that reason I turned out ...

Hi.
You can't drive that many chips without buffering.
http://www.xs4all.nl/~ganswijk/chipdir/f/buffer.htm 74 series chips should be more or less suitable, pick one that fits best to your needs.
Good luck on the project.

Hmm.
Got to try to get some idea out from the docs.
Lets see if I can get some idea how to implement the buggr.

Lee.

You couldn't find the docs/schemas on the 256x1 refresh thingy by any change ?
Those probably won't work directly on 1 or 4 Mbit chips but gives some boost (at least I hope so) to get the circuity done.
Still waiting for sheets from the store I've been bugging about the simms...

Now we're on the same wavelenght on the approach.
Got to check out if I can locate the sheets and see if those make any sense.

Hmm..
The whole fuzz is to avoid software refresh since 6502/816 really doesn't have spare cycles to waste imo.
The board is going to be just simple sbc without video for a starter (6502 or '816, pia/via, acia and some glue and the usual junk to put all together).
I/we have though about simple phi2 ...

DRAM/SIMM refresh circuit

I ve been trying to get some info how to get a simple dram refresh to 1 or 4 MB simm.
Google web nor groups didn't offer any usable info except getting some fpga coding and I'm not really up to that.
So, anyone made dram refresh circuity or have links to easy/cheap way to do that with commodity ttl ...

How about www.xgamestation.com ?
6811 or arm and socket for '816.

About West Design Center

A bit old topic but...
WDC sells their compiler/linker but cc65 (www.cc65.org) does the trick for free.
There might be others too but that's the one I've been watching out if/when I get some '816's at reasonable price (around 30 eur/piece here  )

I'm aware of the scpu, tho this would be fully inside the classic c64 case running on daughterboard replacing the 6510 (and running 4-14MHz).
