I have been playing around with cutting old microprocessors on my laser cutter - started with the 4004 and with the help of the 6502 community have now produced a 5 layer version of the 6502 - see attached photo. I have posted a video that give a better view of how the layers are arranged:

The layers are about 180x200mm.

I will post the Autocad file I used to produce this later today so you can cut your own if you have access to a laser cutter - takes about 2 hours to cut so would probably be too expensive to get it cut by a commercial laser cutter who generally charge about $100 per hour.

Now if only I could figure out how to get the picture the right way up...

I´m curious to see this with a decent colored illumination

What is the size of each "layer"?

Layer are approx. 180*200mm (although scaling to other sizes is relatively easy.

I will probably design some illumination - might be a bit down the track as working through all the cutouts for the lights takes a while.

I don´t want to push you to do colored illuminations - but I think your small video would be even more impressive.

Facebook's streaming quality varies a lot with how heavily their system is in use. Also, a lot of extraneous junk gets loaded when visiting one of their pages. I for one prefer to not visit Facebook to view a video
