I do not receive any emails from this forum. On my posts, I check to be notified when replies are posted. In my profile, everything I can find appears to have email notifications enabled. I must be missing something somewhere. I assume email notifications are working for others. (?) I had to have my account manually activated by the admin, as I never could get the registration confirmation emails. I have double-checked that my email address is correct in my profile. I have checked my email junk folder, too. I'm using Microsoft M365 for my email, in case that matters.

I've been a forum member for nearly ten years, and have only had to log in a handful of times. I have received many hundreds of emails from the forum, but my setup is different than yours, in that I have an @yahoo.com address and have always used some version of Windoze. I hope you get it figured out ... my experience here has been overwhelmingly positive.

I think it will depend on your email provider and their approach to anti-spam measures. My email provider has stopped delivering forum notifications for a month or three - initially some went into the spam folder and now none of them even land there, they are just not delivered.

I have pinged Mike, the forum owner, on this, so he is aware, and has said that the issue affects him too, but as yet - evidently - he hasn't been able to sort this one out.

Interesting point that new registrations will also be affected. And some discussions might be less well-followed if people are not being notified.

My own approach is to visit the forum very often indeed.

I run my own mail server, through which I receive everything, including notifications from 6502.org. I’ve never had a problem with notifications not arriving. However, I do not use a Microsoft E-mail client—I value the security of my mail. :D

I can’t say for certain of use of M365 is the cause, but you might want to verify that it isn’t doing any surreptitious filtering. If it is, it may be deleting “suspicious” messages instead of moving them to a junk mail folder. Also, check with whomever is providing your E-mail service, as they may have an issue with their server's configuration that they may not know about. For example, their server may require use of TLS on all inbound connections, which won’t work with 6502.org.

Microsoft is providing my email service (I directly subscribe to the M365 services). I will dig into the Exchange admin config and see what I can find. Connection security requirements are a good possibility for the issue here.

Looks like TLS is not required, and I see email flow from other domains with no TLS. However, if TLS 1.0 or 1.1 is attempted, it looks like it will fail. Only 1.2 (or none) appears to be supported currently on M365.

Do emails come from the 6502.org domain (e.g., the sending email address is something like "info@6502.org"), or some other domain?

The "From" line will say forum@6502.org .

I did a quick message trace for anything coming from *@6502.org into my email org (at the server level). Nothing in the logs. The issue appears to be outside of what I can control.

The "From" line will say forum@6502.org .

When you get a chance, could you please post something in my POC V1 topic so the forum sends me E-mail? I'll look at the (invisible) header when the notification arrives and see if there's anything that could be tripping up the MS365 service.

I see 6502.org has no DNS SPF record. This might be an issue.

@BigDumbDinosaur... here's a test post to trigger a notification.

I received the notification. The actual source of 6502.org E-mail messages is li427-18.members.linode.com, which is IP address 50.116.21.18.

Microsoft will look at the email from address, and the lack of SPF data may cause the email to get dropped. I will add a rule to ignore all email authentication rules for the email from source of 6502.org. I'll test and report back.

Pardon the blunt question, but why are you messing with that Microsoft spyware for E-mail?
