Let's talk about anything related to the 6502 microprocessor.

Saw this thread mentioned elsewhere. Here is a link to an European PCB house: https://www.eurocircuits.com. Quoting and ordering can be done online.

OT: $50 off Seeed Studio PCB Assembly

Post by cbmeeks »

I thought I would spread this around.

But I got a promotional email about $50 off a Seeed Studio PCB Assembly. I'm not sure of the requirements. But the deal ends Nov 30th (2018).

Use promotion code PCBA50

https://www.seeedstudio.io/fusion_pcb.html

I don't know if you can use this for PCB creation or assembly only.

I've now had several board orders handled by JLCPCB and can recommend them. Prices are reasonable, quality is right up there and delivery times for something coming from Asia to North America are not bad at all. Both my POC V1.3 and V2.0 units are built on JLCPCB boards.

I received 4 set of boards from JLCPCB Monday this week. They all worked just fine. JLCPCB now offers two levels of DHL Express services, Standard or Priority. For my set of boards Standard was $23 whereas Priority is $30. I picked Standard and received the boards in 8 days from submission of designs. $17 for PC boards and $23 for shipping, shipping has always been more expensive than pc boards.

I’ve found PCBWay to be exceptional. $5 for the board’s and around $25 for shipping.

Although lately, shipping has gone through the roof to about $60, as FedEx and DHL has deemed Australia to be a ‘remote’ location. So, this alone has slowed my PCB making right down.

I've used a few including Seeed Studio, OSH Park (from back when they were Dorkbot), PCBWay and Smart Prototyping. They were all wonderful but I like JLCPCB at the moment because:
  • They are cheaper for larger boards, and:
  • For a small fee they will elide the order code from the silk screen
  • They do all the pretty colours. I like black silk screen on white solder mask but I recently discovered that matte black mask makes the chips disappear and the boards look like a sea of pads

I actually prefer having the order code on the PCB.  It helps me distinguish between two designs that look very similar.

When I made POC V1.2, I elected to go with a red board.  Man, did that prove to be a mistake!  I struggled to assemble the unit because I had trouble telling the pads apart from the board itself—the red was causing a lot of glare under the magnifier light.  It might have been easier if the board had a matte finish, but that wasn't an option.
