Re: Andrew Jacobs (BitWise) has passed away
Oh my I am so sorry to hear this. He was always a positive member here and I've followed his projects for a long time.
So sorry to have lost a great person.

I am sorry to hear this. He was always very supportive of me, helping me out with practical advice and general encouragement - regardless of how hair-brained my idea was.
Want to design a PCB for your project? I strongly recommend KiCad. Its free, its multiplatform, and its easy to learn!
Also, I maintain KiCad libraries of Retro Computing and Arduino components you might find useful.

His handle was quickly recognizable and his wisdom made be want to read everything he had to say. He will be sorrily missed.

I am so sad. He was a great asset to the forum, and I will miss his posts.

This is very sad.
Wasn't Andrew also a distributor for WDC products?

(My understanding is that Andrew had some 6502 parts which he would pass on, to save shipping and so on, but it sounded like an informal arrangement.)

That is very sad news. Like many have said here, his contributions were great, and he helped people here with great posts.
There is nothing that can be said to brush aside the sadness and grief that his family and friends must be going through.
But if there is a way that we could send our condolences, that may help the family a little.

Noooo... Andrew was a great contributor here! I used his assembler project for custom opcodes on the 65Org16 and it worked great! **sigh** I'm constantly reminded in life that the only constant is change. I just hope his loved ones know how valuable he was to this community, particularly this forum.

Oh man, really bad, so sad to hear!

I was just shocked and actually sad when I found about this.
Re: Andrew Jacobs (BitWise) has passed away
Wow!
I have to confess, I am mostly a lurkerer here in the forum, and my real life job prevents me from really getting more involved on my retro/6502 passion, but Andrew has been an indirect mentor for me, without I (or him) even knowing it. I have used his 6502 reference page to build my own 6502 emulator, which to be honest, was a breeze given the quality of the information he has provided and how easily it was organized.
Very sad news to learn he is no longer here, wish I have been able to thank him before.

Over the years, Andrew and I had swapped several PMs... great guy, wonderful expertise in many areas. However, I just received WDC's latest newsletter in email. This one was dedicated to Andrew, which I thought was a nice thing to do and hence me posting it here.

I received that as well and was both happy and sad Andrew received the well-deserved recognition. May the Lord be with him always.

Didactics, coding, everything at the best level.
