Building the CJW-0 Machine

Post by Gradius2000 »

Hello! To those who aren't newbies, you might know me from "Let's make an OS together!" That forum was the software for a machine I am going to build. However, I need some help with the hardware.
I know the piece for the cpu; w65c02s. But I'm stuck on building a SRAM collection for 64 K x 8, and a Flash ROM collection for 4 K x 8. Also, is there a Serial chip that I can use from page $E000? I just need channels in that spot of an output, input, ready in and ready out. Or is there a current Video driver that I should use instead? I have space for a Commodore VIC-II in my OS's memory map. :)

See my 6502 primer at http://wilsonminesco.com/6502primer/ . It's arranged logically in 22 chapters. If you're ready to extend yourself only a little bit further, you could go for the 65816 which is far more capable. Actually, you can make a board with a few jumper selections to accommodate either processor. Also, the '816 can be used exactly as an '02 to begin, if you think it's too intimidating, and then you can start using its added capabilities little by little at a comfortable rate.
http://WilsonMinesCo.com/ lots of 6502 resources
The "second front page" is http://wilsonminesco.com/links.html .
What's an additional VIA among friends, anyhow?
