I suppose that I should have said "yes, please". You may have my sincere apology, should you choose to accept it.

No, you should have said "In my opinion, yes"

But there is "suppose" and "probably" in BigEd's failed attempt, to interpret your answer. So the reaction by Joe7 is a bit thin-skinned. I hope, he re-thinks his decision.

Clear and simple language is very important in a forum with members around the world.

It's terribly difficult to write completely without ambiguity - we should all try, I suppose, but also when reading others' writings, we should try for a generous interpretation.

I recently learnt, to my discomfort, that "please" signals politeness in my part of the world, but in the US can signal something more like an order. We can't all be aware of all those sorts of differences!

It's also really easy to leave off a "not" and write the opposite of what we intend...

I never said a *single* thing about Mike's post, and intend to make things work as expected based on his response. So whatever.

I suppose, Mike, you're saying that a project with some non standard syntax or missing important features is good for the person who built the project, but probably not good for a general audience?
This is the post I took issue with, as I found it to be pretty offensive when all I did was share the status of my project. Why say anything at all?

My intent was to defuse MIke's comment, as it looked to me like it might cause trouble. My intent was to make clear my reading, which was that Mike took exception to something, and did not speak for everyone. My intent was not to endorse that thought. I'm sorry to have caused more upset that would have existed if I'd not acted.

I'm sorry about this whole thing. I haven't been myself lately.

That's OK - all's well that ends well. I've been a bit stressed too. I need to fight the urge to reply if I feel a bit off.
