The very first link is now dead, but fortunately it's been archived.

Thanks.

I like that in the editor's preface to volume 6, it says, "Beginning at about this time, Dr. Dobb’s Journal began accepting limited amounts of advertising. The editor was charged with the responsibility of not allowing any such source of income bias the textual content of the magazine." I wish all media were that way!

I didn't realize that Marlin Ouverson was the editor. He was the editor also of Forth Dimensions magazine, and I spoke with him a few times in 1994.

Excellent news: Mike has put in huge time and effort to seek down and scan all the collected volumes of Dr Dobb's Journal - the final two being very rare indeed. He has OCRd them and published them in the 6502 document archive:

Mike has kindly permitted me to re-upload his scans to the Internet Archive, where you can also enjoy a searchable flipbook view of each volume:
https://archive.org/search.php?query=su ... &sort=date
(Also you can download a plaintext view of each volume, for searching. Hopefully the IA's re-OCR has been good enough to make that worthwhile. Perhaps two OCRs are better than one...)

"Initially published by the People's Computer Company, this newsletter started in 1976 and covered many topics from the early days of hobbyist computing. When the 6502 appeared, various articles were written in Dr. Dobbs about it, and this is some of the earliest content about the 6502."

Many thanks Mike! I'm sure we'll find lots of interesting 6502 hardware and software articles in there.

This is great.

Just to be clear, as I (mis)read this this way, this is not specific to the 6502.

Rather it's simply the first 15 years of DDJ, which (ringing a faint bell) published bound "annual" volumes of the entire magazine. These files are pretty big.

This is a real treasure, and thanks to Mike for scanning them in.

I'm sure I'm not alone in once having stacks of these things. I once bought a CD(s?) from DDJ which was supposed to have "all of DDJ" on them to some point, but I have not seen them in years. I had hope that DDJ would have continued to publish those CDs, but they don't. They were sort of my back up plan when I decided it was easier to toss the magazines out than huff them up the ladder in to the attic space where they would likely go to die anyway.

So, this is great that we have these now.

Thanks Mike!

I had a plan to buy those CDs at one time, but DDJ folded before I got around to it.

I haven't looked, but it would also be really interesting if someone has scanned Micro magazine. There's a lot of interesting 6502 stuff in there.

Is it this one: http://6502.org/documents/publications/micro/ ? Mike has so much info on this site, and even though I'm in on it, I still keep finding stuff I didn't know was there.
