Of course there are always options like writing in another program (often offline) and copy-and-pasting too once you log back in too.

I often take this approach, and it works smoothly enough for me. Pretty much any old text editor will do -- Notepad under Windows, Emacs under Linux/Unix, or whatever you like. After cutting and pasting, I use the preview to do one last proofread and make sure things like the quoting and code tags are correct. The downside (at least for me) is that I tend to be more long-winded this way.

Well, I finally got back here to check, and it looks to me like the thread is pretty much dead (no new posts for a few weeks?) ...

Since my limited electronics knowledge is so old and dusty, I guess I need more detailed advice than anyone with more detailed knowledge of the KIM-1 has the time and/or inclination to fool with.

If anyone cares to kick me in a different direction, or has any ideas about how I should proceed to get my old KIM-1 working again, and/or determine that it's too far gone for my capablities, I'll be watching for reply notifications.

Thanks!

Mike

Is it still the power supply holding you up? Do you have other specific questions? If you're not sure about specific power supplies from other equipment, you can always just buy a power supply that's made to put out 5V at a current level that's at least as high as the KIM is said to require. It may not be as cheap that way, but these things are available all over the place. There's no reason a power supply should stand between you and the desired progress.

If there are other KIM-1 questions, you could find out who has posted about KIM-1's (possibly using the "Search" function above) and PM or E-mail them. There are a lot of forum members who go a long time without paying any attention to the forum, so they wouldn't have seen your questions. I can think of some very knowledgeable members who would fit this description. I'm sure you have not come anywhere near exhausting your possibilities.
