TIS-100 Assembly language game

Post by Simon »

Has anyone seen or played this?

http://www.zachtronics.com/tis-100/

From the page the description is:

"TIS-100 is an open-ended programming game by Zachtronics, the creators of SpaceChem and Infinifactory, in which you rewrite corrupted code segments to repair the TIS-100 and unlock its secrets. It’s the assembly language programming game you never asked for!"

An assembly language programming game is probably just the sort of thing people here might enjoy! I haven't bought it yet as I am busy but with some free time coming up I might give it a try.

I've heard good things about it, but I didn't look into it too much because as far as I knew it was only on Steam. Looks like it's also available DRM-free on GOG, though, so I might just have to give it a shot...

It's on my Steam list, but the little time I've had for gaming has been saving the Earth from evil alien overlords in XCOM 2 (you're welcome), and since I'm going to be spending way too much time with No Man's Sky in about a month, it might be a while before I get to it. Have heard good things, though, as well.

I just bought this, and started playing around with it. It's not very relevant to assembly language programming, but the combination of a very restricted instruction repertoire and inter-process(or) communication makes for some fairly interesting challenges.

Apart from that, it's cheap, seems well programmed and is not a multi-gigabyte download - if you think this is the sort of thing you might like, you'll probably enjoy it :)
