How to use Nop Generator to troubleshoot AIM 65??

Post by andyd »

I am still trying to bring my AIM 65 back to life. Thanks for the suggestions so far, but still not working.

I removed the Basic ROMS and I had 4K RAM so I tried swappping parts around, only putting RAM in the first 1K. I tried to do it in an orgainzed manner, but still no go.

I was looking through the forum the other day and found another article about another AIM 65 that was dead. Well, he brought it back to life by troubleshooting with Lee Davison's Nop Generator. Well, I bought the parts to make the Nop generator and ordered a logic probe and 2 new 2114's, but it suddenly dawned on me. Do I leave the parts in the board except the ROM I remove to put the Nop Generator in, or do I remove all the ROMs or everything except the CPU and support circuitry?

Any clues much appreciated.

Thanks,

AndyD

You should remove all the memory, ROM and RAM, and the 6522.

The no-op generator goes in any ROM socket.
