65SPI Bulk Order?
65SPI Bulk Order?
I based the 65SPI on a Xilinx XC9572 CPLD. That part is not longer being manufactured and I only have a couple of those left in my stock. It is still available through distributors at a reasonable cost.
I was thinking that I should offer up a one-time, not-for-profit bulk order for these parts while they are still available.
Here's my offer:
I will purchase, program, and deliver 65SPI's for anyone who want them. Use an estimated cost of $7 each plus shipping. The actual cost will be announced after I get a chip count. You can use the USPS.COM website to get an estimate on shipping. Alternatively, you can email me and I can give you a shipping estimate. Payment can be made via paypal or money order. There will be a small fee for paypal, to partially cover the fees they charge me. Again, I am not trying to profit from this offer, I just want to cover my own expenses.
Feel free to ask any questions.
Full info on the 65SPI is located here:

I am no setting a due date at this time. If there is any interest, I'll set a date.
thanks!
Daryl

Re: 65SPI Bulk Order?
What package format are you using? PLCC?
I would be part of it. Details via P.M.

How should I know what I think, until I hear what I've said.

Yes, this is a 44 pin PLCC device. Thanks!

Re: 65SPI Bulk Order?
One more thing I want to mention. These CPLD's run on the warm-to-hot side. I have been placing a heat sink on mine to help. While they are not required, I highly-recommend their use.
This is the one I use:
http://www.digikey.com/product-search/e ... &x=11&y=15
I can include these in the bulk order also. If I order 10 or more, the cost should be about $6 each (includes the shipping and tax from digikey to me). Again, I can provide exact costs once I finalize the order.
I have already had 17 65SPI's requested. Thanks to all who have responded!

Re: 65SPI Bulk Order?
After this model of CPLD becomes unavailable, would you be moving the design to a different one? I don't know anything about it, but I would assume the transition would be pretty easy-- or is it that no others are available in thru-hole socketable packages like the PLCC?

What's an additional VIA among friends, anyhow?

Re: 65SPI Bulk Order?
I have not done any research into a new package. The Xilinx tools supported Abel - which I was familiar with. I'm not sure if a newer device will support that code or if it will have to be re-written in some other language.

Re: 65SPI Bulk Order?
I'd be interested in two of them, each with a heat sink please.

Re: 65SPI Bulk Order?
Thanks to all who have requested parts.
I will set the final order date to Nov 15th. At that point, I will calculate the total cost for me to purchase the requested parts. I will then set the unit prices and let everyone know the exact cost and ask for their commitment to purchase. Once everyone acknowledges the request, I will purchase the parts, program them when they arrive, and package them for delivery. I will then request payment and send your parts out as I receive your payment.
My goal is for everyone to receive their parts by the end of the year.
Please contact me if you have any questions!
Thanks!!

Re: 65SPI Bulk Order?
The XC9572 will still be available for a long time on ebay, where I usually buy components from.
So unless you want to be 100% sure that you want to buy a new and genuine component, you don't have to worry.

Re: 65SPI Bulk Order?
I had an opportunity to acquire 30 9572's at a good price. That is more than enough to cover the 20 that were requested so I made the purchase.
The price is $4.25 each! So, for those who have requested parts, I will have them in hand Nov 23rd and will be programming them as soon as they arrive. Please send me a confirmation message with your mailing address so I can get the shipping estimated ahead of time. I will have approximately 10 extra so if anyone else is interested, please let me know.
These are 44 pin PLCC parts with a 7ns speed rating.
Thanks all!

Re: 65SPI Bulk Order?
I know this might be considered cheeky, but is the source code for this part available? I'm interested because I'm in the process of setting myself up for CPLD/FPGA dev and have some of these CPLDs on order. It would be great to learn how it works, and of course, to integrate one into my own computer.
