I bid adieu for a while.

Let's talk about anything related to the 6502 microprocessor.

Vision is such a fundamental thing, it's even hard to conceive what it actually means for people living with major vision problems. Hope you fully recover!

My dad has ITP, I know what you're going through with that. I hope your eye operations go smoothly.
How old was your dad when Pac-Man showed up?
He was 76 and that was in early 2006.
His platelet counts have been as low as 30k but the last few years have been 50k to 70k.

That's a pretty advanced age at which to be developing autoimmune problems. I was diagnosed at 61. How's he doing?

30K is well below normal (150K) but not too dangerous. Most minor injuries will still clot at that level. The lowest I ever went was <2K (most CBC automated setups bottom out at 2K for platelets). It happened several times and I was bleeding out of just about every place where blood could come out.
Less than 2k would be really scary. My dad has been doing fine, thanks for asking.
Take care and I hope everything goes well.

This is BigDumbDinosaur's wife. Bill asked me to tell everyone that the surgery on his right eye went well. We should know in about a week if that eye's vision has improved.

Best wishes from me too. I'm heading back from a one week tracking tour and read about this some minutes ago. Hope to read you here again soon, BDD.

I got the patch off my right eye yesterday. Vision in that eye is still a little fuzzy but definitely better than before the surgery. My depth perception is totally out of whack however, but should return to normal once the other eye is fixed. I might not even have to enlarge the font anymore once the blood-letting is finished and I'm healed up.

Next surgery is scheduled on September 25. I was told that recovery will take longer because retinal work will be involved. We'll see...

Great to hear!

(Now, be honest, while you were there, did you take apart all the defibs to see if there really was a 65c02 in there? Or the machine that goes beep?)

I did see a portable defib unit nearby and was hoping that it wouldn't be needed. However, I figured if it was needed it would be prudent to not mess with it and maybe end up DOA—the old "curiosity killed the cat" thing.
