Glad to have you with us, ttlworks. "Three TTL CPUs and a transistor CPU" sounds interesting.
So does hardware/software design for mad scientists! :D

Welcome to the forum!

There are not much transistor cpu-s around. Could you give us some info how it works/looks?

EDIT: Other forum members want to see it as well. But ttlworks sent me a pl with a link, so i will share it:
EDIT: Maybe not the best idea to reveal the identity of ttlworks???

Hi everyone,

once in a while when I google for information regarding my homebrew computer project I stumble on this forum. This probably is because I use a modified version of EhBASIC 68k. :) Hi Lee! :)

I live in Germany and I am a child of the 80ies starting computing in 1984 with a VIC-20. A year later I got my C64 which has been my main computer until 1991. Guess what came next: An Amiga. :) Today I even own an Apple IIGS but doesn't use it very often.

Welcome Bogogil,

That "Kiwi" is a great piece of engineering. I saw it before on YouTube.

Good to have you here.

That is a nice 68008 system. I missed that link, or it wasn't present earlier in your signature. Either way, nice project and welcome!

Hi!

Welcome to the forum.

Wow, the Kiwi computer looks really nice, very neat!
I am planning to build something similar but with a MC68020, any help would be welcomed.

Thank you! Well if I can help, I will do. But I assume the bigger CPU affects most of the circuit. What does your project look like?

O.T.
It should have FPU, few MB of ram, graphics, sorta Ethernet, and some kind of data storage, and all of the other usual peripherals.
I was thinking about leaving the glue logic to a XC9532 CPLD to increase flexibility, and in avoid the usual glue logic mess.
I would like it to have the MMU chip, but that is too expensive. As for DMA, i can't find a 32bit DMA IC, only 8 and 16 bit.
I am still in the phase of collecting parts, but my biggest issue is the PCB, i don't know how to use PCB editing software well enough for such a complex board, and i also can't afford expensive PCB manufacturers.

Again everyone, please! This sticky topic is for introductions only. Please start other topics for conversing about projects.

Also, can you imagine what it would be like if all thousand members jumped in with "Welcome!" every time there was a new introduction. The topic would become useless.

I think one or two welcomes are fine, and healthy. This is never going to be a tidy collection of resumés.
Agreed, of course, that follow-on discussions should be marshalled into new threads.
Cheers
Ed

This is kind of a re-introduction since I was on the forums before and posted a little bit a few years ago but I now I'm back.

David Galloway, Canadian, now back in Canada although I spent most of adult life in the USA fist with a pilgrimage and 6 years in Silicon Valley eating donuts at the Donut Wheel and then many more years in the Seattle area. I started on the 6502 as a child when I was presented with a KIM-1 by my father in the late seventies. With Jim Butterfield and Rodney Zaks as my guides, I ventured into a life long adventure in computing. I've done some commercial work for the 6502 and 65816 including TMNT for the C64, YS for the Apple ][GS and the first version of FIFA for the SNES. Since the end of the SNES there hasn't been a lot to do on the 6502 for me but I have kept doing things on the back burner including some experiments and games for the Atari 2600 and Apple ][ for example this quick and dirty CORDIC ATAN2 routine that was done for fun. http://pastebin.com/ryk7gx9Y - I'm sure this code could be optimized. :)

These days I work for a living in high level shading language (HLSL) and rendering code with my most recent published contribution on Sleeping Dogs PC.

I currently have an Atari 2600 with Cuttle Cart, the NES, 7800, 5200, 800, C64, Apple ][; plus my favourite; a Micro KIM from Briel Computing which is the only one I use regularly. Everything else is in an emulator. My current 6502 projects are on the 2600, NES, KIM-1 and Apple ][ (and GS)

- David
