Component supplies in Europe

Mainland Europe is a big place, and I don't know how variable the shipping costs are between countries, but maybe people can contribute their experiences in this thread. (I'm prompted in part by Dajgoro in Croatia who seemed not to have an in-country supplier - but see below)

I gather that UK suppliers charge a lot to ship to the Continent - perhaps someone can confirm. Farnell/element14 at least seem to have a presence in lots of countries. For UK

Since this is 6502.org, Mouser UK http://uk.mouser.com have the 65C02, 65C816, and 65C22.

I haven't tried ordering from them yet.

I have bought a small number of various 65's from them last year. No shipping charges above 75 Eur/50 UKP. I dealt with them once before, years ago, for a larger order. To me, they seem as solid a supplier as Farnell (which I use a lot) and Digikey (which I use occasionally). They all have free shipping above a certain amount of trade, which, I think, is worthwhile to go for. But, as far as I know, Mouser is the only one stocking 65's.

I went to mouser, and just for test i added to my cart the 65c816 and one 65c22. The prices are fair, but when i saw the shipping price, i thought it was an error, but it isn't.

With 90€ i can pay all the bills, and buy two weeks of student food...

I avoid all suppliers that have shipping prices like that, because there is no way i am ever going to pay such a price for just few components...
As for Farnell, they actually do have a reseller here in Croatia, it is a company that makes stuff for trains and railways(altpro.com), i already contacted them and asked if they could get few Raspberry Pies for me and my friends(lots of my friends also do electronics, but not as much as i do). I got a reply saying that they could get them somewhere in June. I only fear that again, as usually prices will go skyrocketing, and nobody will be able to afford the R-Pi... Lets hope it won't happen this time...

I don't understand how this companies politics works, and why the shipping prices have to be so high, and why for example Unicorn electronics charged me only 9$ for shipping, or why ebay sellers are willing to sell me tons of stuff with ridiculously small shipping prices(free shipping, i assume that the shipping price is integrated in the product price).

If someone finds a site with reasonable shipping prices, post here.

Specific info about shipping costs, whether high or low, would help make this thread useful.

nl.mouser.com charges 20 euros for shipping, and free shipping if the order is over 75.

I have used mouser in France twice, and each time the shipping was fast (3 business days). Have to watch out for VAT though, it gets added at the end of the order, but you can either choose to pay it directly on your bill, or to pay it on delivery. Shipping was free for orders over 75 EUR.

For WDC's parts, Mouser required me to fill in and sign an "exports" form (mainly just asking the purpose and destination or the components), probably due to US export regulations.

I have also used Farnell/element 14 once, but I did find their components slightly more expensive than Mouser's - but their delivery time was 1 business day, so I don't have any regrets.

Correct on the US export rules. They apply to any microprocessor, not just WDC's parts.
