Thanks for that - Google Books doesn't have very much, as it turns out.

Looks as if CMP Media was bought by UBM and now this title is published by Elsevier with a different cover.

Someone has at sometime bought an electronic copy of the book and distributed it illegally. This is the kind of thing hackers use stolen credit card numbers for.

Undoubtedly some people see this as a victimless crime, its just a PDF after all, but if YOU had spent months writing and checking the drafts for a book I think you'd be a bit annoyed not to be receiving your fare share of royalties for your efforts.

I have a copy of the real thing with the accompanying CD on my bookshelf.

k, so time to delete it after a small preview to see if I can buy if it is worth my time on that. Will not host it at all.

If you want a book that is free to give out, I own the copyright on a series of books a friend wrote on haunted house making. My copyright states that these books are to be given out for free, so if you have any interest, please do. Look into www.nightmarepark.com and then click on the jbcorn book link.

WARNING TO WINDOZE USERS! Since as I said earlier things were getting strange as I looked into the copyright issues on the book, our son looked up a few things about the website where I found the bit torrent, and found this article from nine days ago saying that the kat.ph website (which is hosted in Canada) had a fake antivirus that would load a bunch of executable files on your Windows computer without your even clicking on anything, tell you your computer was infected, and then take away control of your computer unless you gave them your credit-card number to buy the antidote. Watch the video there at that link, or at http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=pl ... MKKbwWIcYk , telling how the scheme worked.

Fortunately I have not used Windows or any Windows-based software in about six years, and I have had absolutely zero problems with viruses, malware, or even slowing, even without any AV software.

I was looking to buy the book, but the price was ridiculous. So I looked for it used, and people were asking a minimum of $40 or $50. I didn't take action right away, and looked again a few months later, and prices had tripled, and even the used ones were going for anywhere from over $100 to a couple thousand! Our soon-to-be daughter-in-law found it for $8, so I said, "Quick! Get it before they come to their senses!" Now it's in my hands. The CD is broken which may have happened in shipping but it's not really a concern to me. It's a good book.
