Where to buy a WDC 65c02 and other chip

Post by kozlojak »

I Want to buy a WDC 6c02, 65c22 and 65c51 and maybe a 65c816 but I can not find a place to buy one. It looks like I could buy some of them(not the 65c51?) from WDC Directly but as I live in canada they want $25 to ship and a $15 handling fee(plus duty and taxes) it looks like Digikey nor Jameco has them. Does anyone know of a place that carries them? or even any other 65Cxx brand, the only place I found was Jameco and they where pulls.

I had R65xx chips but it looks like I need 65Cxx chips for what I am doing

Thanks

Both WDC and Apatco will sell them to you. Have you found the form?

Yes, WDC charge atrocious rates for shipping. $40 to ship a 65c02 to Canada. I think they really do not want to do business internationally. Whoever is in charge there was probably bitten by a Canadian mosquito once and now it's pay back time!

Apatco charge $5 more for the chip! Sheesh!

Yea, The chip is a bit more, but Apatco is in Canada and if asked will give you a quote with the exact shipping, I ordered a 65c02, 65c22 and 65c816 and shipping was only $1.04

And coming from canada there will be no duty or broker fee's

They where very quick to respond to the shipping questions So I was happy with it.

The bulk of WDC's income is derived from intellectual property license royalties. They sell very little in the way of hardware, so the onesies and twosies are more a nuisance for them than income.

Canadian mosquitoes are meaner than a hungry grizzly bear. If enough of them get together they'll pick you up and fly you to the nearest swamp for dinner.

I guess they are the right source. It kind of goes against my "Buy where its made" motto, however, there is definitely some value add in reduced cost and quicker delivery by buying from Apatco. In this sense they earn their middleman fee.

I live in Muskoka, Ontario. This is Unimatrix One for Canadian mosquitoes. Yeah, they'll drag you off to the nearest swamp as the main course in a peace offering to the black flies.

Sigh!

The black flies seem almost benign in comparison. I thought the skeeters around here were nasty. The Canadian ones would bring tears to the eyes of a bull moose.

Western design center if you have not found an option yet. Though you have to be wary of their shipping rates, which could even reach $40 for a small package going to North America.

There are probably a lot of choices for less shipping in Canada. Apatco as far as I remember charged me less than $2 for shipping 4 small ones.

Jameco stocks the entire WDC product line now, apparently:

http://www.jameco.com/webapp/wcs/stores ... =jamecoall

Or:

http://www.jameco.com and search for "western design center".
