DS1813 availability
Re: DS1813 availability
I got my MCP130s in the mail and they work in the same footprint I had designated for DS1813. $0.50 is a much nicer price than $3.80

Yes, the DS1813 is a little pricey in comparison. However, it will respond to a low-going edge on the reset line, e.g., due to being grounded by a push button or by the output of a watchdog timer (a feature used in some embedded controllers), and execute the reset cycle. In order to get the equivalent behavior with an MCP1xx, you have to interrupt its VCC source. That’s no big deal with a push button, but is not quite as simple if a watchdog is involved.
That said, if the MCP1xx works in your application, no reason to not use it. You can also fashion a timed reset controller with DS1813 behavior using a Schmitt inverter and some other parts. However, the combined cost of the parts will almost pay for the DS1813, and the latter takes up much less space.
