Seems there is at least one German supplier who carries the C02—that may be an option for you.
I must strongly caution you about going on eBay to purchase a C02. The odds are good that you will be sold a counterfeit part. See also this topic about suppliers.

You have the option to go to Mouser (https://nl.mouser.com/. I use them in the UK. You'll get bona fides parts from them. The only issue is there is a minimum spend before you get free postage - it'll be around €40.

Mouser, no argument. They work all across Europe and I've had no problem in DE. The only thing is to watch that minimum spend to avoid silly postage charges - but three or four 65c02 will cover that, I think.

Ditto on Mouser, they are very nice to work with.

One thing I have noticed recently is that in spite of local-language stores - with different stock, on some parts which might have export restrictions - the big two suppliers, Mouser and Digikey, both supply from the States. Farnell will supply from the UK and Belgium, and as far as I recall every time I have used Reichelt, they've supplied from Germany.
Which might have implications if we get into US/EU tariff shin-kicking competition ( https://youtu.be/rajJJaiEdPE )... though current policies are likely to put up semiconductor prices anyway.

Given the extent and capabilities of modern air freight, as well as the fact that chips don’t take up much room in the belly of a 747 or A340—or put much strain on the wings

I’m not fully versed on exactly what effect the Trump administration’s proposed tariffs will have on semiconductor exports, but suspect it will be less than we might fear. Hardly any semiconductor manufacturing goes on in the US right now—environmentalists saw to that, so tariffs might wind up being a non-issue for hobby users. Almost all semiconductor products that Digi-Key et al are shipping were made somewhere in Asia. So import tariffs are already factored into the sale price.
Trump seems to be more focused on higher-value goods, e.g., automobiles and airplanes (things in which American union labor is a significant factor—he had a lot of union support last November), than on microprocessors based upon 50-year-old technology.
As for that video...OUCH!

We have some strange games in the UK. We roll cheeses downhill and try to catch them, too. And don't even mention Morris Dancing - the damage you can do with a handkerchief, some bells, and a two-inch ash stick...
I think it's been mentioned that the WDC parts are made by TSMC in Taiwan, so that's _not_ mainland China and shouldn't attract US import tarrifs, though depending on the shin-kicking, they may get stung when they're imported from the US to Europe.

Yes, I noticed brexit and trump tariffs make Mouser and Digikey quite expensive.

So, probably Reichelt it will be, I live about ten clicks from the German border, there is a packing station in a village supermarket there, where I am a regular customer, which even opens up the possibility of having stuff shipped there and then collecting it there myself

Probably no stranger than some of the things we Yanks do. One of the more-hilarious “games” we have is log-rolling, commonly in areas of the country in which lumberjacking is carried out. Contestants often end up going for an unplanned swim in murky water.

Sounds like that could be fun...the catching part, anyhow. Nothing like a well-aged Gouda for a prize!

I’d not heard of Morris dancing, but found a Wikipedia article about it. This caught my eye:
Quote:
Sticks, swords, handkerchiefs, and a variety of other implements may be wielded by the dancers.
As for the shin-kicking contest, when I saw those two women going at it, I had a flashback to my boyhood and schoolyard fights. Only difference is we boys aimed higher than the shins.

Correct on TSMC and Taiwan. From what I recall, there is little-to-no US tariff on Taiwan-made goods that are not in direct competition to a US equivalent. Any tariff on a WDC part being sold to you guys would be imposed by your government.
As I earlier said, I’m inclined to think this tariff business will primarily affect high-value products. If it becomes a problem for Digi-Key or Mouser, I wouldn’t be surprised if they started warehousing product somewhere in the EU and have it shipped directly from Taiwan to the EU location, completely bypassing the USA and its tariffs.
I personally think the Trump tariffs will be counterproductive, but then, they didn’t cut me in on the latest Signal chat.

What the...??? I’m used to seeing that in a large American city right before a “mostly-peaceful” protest, but not in Scotland.
