The Atari 2600 is a very limited machine, with a 6502-like CPU. But people are still programming for it: here's a discussion about a version of Super Mario, which links to a previous discussion about a version of Star Castle.
(Star Castle was originally a vector graphics machine with a TTL CPU not unlike a PDP8.)

thought it was more PDP-11 based.

by the way, there IS a game Skelly did that used a 6502. Name that game :D

Trick question! It seems that Reactor has a 6502, but it's for sound. So it does use one, but it looks like Tim Skelly didn't program a game on the 6502.

No. The Atari VCS 2600 is not a PDP machine at all. It is an 8 bit 6507 based game console. The 6507 is code compatible with the 6502. The only difference between the two is hardware. No interrupts and the 6507 can only map 8K of memory.
