Re: 6502 with the RA8875
FWIW, I'm going to try the RA8889 next as I want to use a 10.1" screen which is 1024x600 (I'm not fussed about the resolution, I just wanted a larger screen). I'll post updates here when I get things working.
Does that exist as a complete display like the 7" one I have, or do I have to dust-off my ...

Cool pic!
Two last questions (I hope) :
I'm trying to read back from TEXT memory - has anyone managed to do this? (ie I would like to be able to make a sort of screen-based editor) So far I'm always getting zeros wherever I place the read cursor...

Re: Infinite-Mantra: COMM Project
Just to complete what I posted above, I realized that the article I have is in French.... But here is a link to the same elektor article in english : Navigating Wireless Protocols . It costs a few €/$/£ (I dont know where you're based), but I found the article very useful.

Re: Infinite-Mantra: COMM Project
Hi, you might want to look at the LoRa (RongRange) specification. There are ready-made modules designed to be used with Arduinos et al.

Re: Introducing... PUNIX! A Puny UNIX
Hi all,
The last few posts set off a few "brain jogs" in my head. In one of my previous lives I was an HP1000 expert, providing systems support as an HP consultant. But that was a long, long time ago, and I realize that I've forgotten all about the RTE (Real-Time Executive) system. Luckily internet ...

Gosh, you guys 'n gals, since I came back to the forum (a number of years ago now), I have sooo many times seen subjects that attracted my attention, firstly said something to myself along the lines of "I'm too old to go down that hole...", and finally taken the plunge :

Re: 6502 with the RA8875
Hello, I'm not sure I completely understand the questions you ask, but any operations that involve filling or moving screen data should be left to the graphics processor : the RA8875. A complete fill of the 8" (800x480 pixels) screen takes much less than 1s. You need to watch the !wait signal to ...

Re: 6502 with the RA8875
What size screen is that? 7"?
I recently got a 9" RA8875 from BuyDisplay and it doesn't work :(
Yes, it's a 7" display. I had to rewire all of the jumpers to get it to work in 6800 // mode, it was hard-wired for 8080 mode. I followed the diagram to the letter, and presto! the beast came alive ...

Re: 6502 with the RA8875
Sorry for the radio silence - my wife and I were both infected by a nasty virus - by the family! Over a week spent with fever and not eating... Not ideal conditions for thinking or working, so it was self-inflicted lockdown.

AWESOME!!!!! Thankyou, but I still haven't managed to get the full display to clear, and I've lost the "Hello World!" text... I'll get there one day. I'll have to be quick, 'cos my bail on the dinig table expires Friday night (family arriving)

Back again !
Well the terribly wrong was an error in addressing the non-handshake port A of the 6522 (ORG+$0F) : I was writing my data into unused address space
With that fixed, I was then seeing very strange behavior between bits D3 and D4 of the data lines - they were following each other ...
