You don't have any clock input on the processor, which has to come in on pin 37. Even if you use the onboard oscillator, it needs external passives to control the frequency, even if it's just an RC. See the clock-generation page of the 6502 primer. It covers all this.

Testing 6502 CPUs
Dear community,
I bought a few 6502 CPUs on eBay. I have two 6502 units by Rockwell and two by Synertek. I have hand wired the CPUs and tried them with 555 timer, but later I found out that the pulse from 555 timer is not fully compatible with 6502. I know, that Synertek CPUs had built-in clock ...

Re: Clock generation for 6502
Wooow, thank you so much for all the answers. I will have to study it.
I am experimenting a bit with direct crystal connection, but it does not work, could you please check my connection?

Re: Clock generation for 6502
Thank you for the advice. So it won't work with my Rockwell 6502AP (2Mhz version on the picture above), right?

Clock generation for 6502
Dear community,
I have watched Ben Eater's video about building "Hello, world" from scratch on a 6502. In time 4:20 he talked about clock generation from crystal can oscillator. He said, "that we need to connect just 5V and GND to the crystal and then we can connect the crystal directly into pin 37 ...

Re: Ideal EEPROM for 6502
Hello jcs,
No, you are not missing anything. Thank you for the opinion.
Before I will start ordering and building the Arduino EEPROM Programmer, I will ask a question.
Any of those EEPROMs really can not be used to run code for 6502 from?
Note: ESMT SST Series 25 can be read only, can not be ...

Re: Ideal EEPROM for 6502
Thank you for all the answers. So my CH341A USB EEPROM programmer is useless for this project. Alright, so I need new one. Any recommendations?

Ideal EEPROM for 6502
Dear community,
I am newbie student in this thread. However, I have been searching for some projects with 6502 and I have noticed, that almost everyone uses AT28C256 EEPROM. Can I ask why, what is the reason? Programmers for those 28 series EEPROMs are quite expensive. Can I use 24, 25 or 26 series ...
