What did you use to program the GAL?
The programmer I'm using is the TL866CS (same as I use for the EEPROMs). I generate the JED files using Opal. I'm not super-happy with this arrangement. The TL866CS can't seem to handle the 20v10s I have, and I have to ...

My Homebrew System: Retro-65
I've been meaning to post here the details about the system I've been building, since I couldn't have done it without the resources I've found here. I'll warn you up front that there is nothing terribly exciting about the build starting with the name: Retro-65.
The core of the system is a 65C02. It ...

Re: 65C816 - Why?
I picked up a couple of 65816s recently. I don't have a specific project in mind yet, but I'm toying with either taking the SBC I've been working on and hacking the 816 in, or designing a whole new board around them. The main things I'm interested in are the larger address space, the 16 bit index ...

Re: Commodore 64 Restoration
Sadly, I have worked in Sales and Marketing too long and don't really trust company websites. In any event, I've decided this poor computer has waited years to be brought back to life, another week or two for capacitors maybe isn't such a big deal. So I ordered some Nichicons from Mouser. As a side ...

Re: Commodore 64 Restoration
I wonder why anyone cares about a few cents when going to revive a valuable thing  Use caps from Panasonic, they are not cheap nor expensive but reliable.

Re: TinyFPGA
Those look interesting. One of my little side-projects is a 6502 SBC. I've got it working to the point where it can run BASIC and Forth, but it just uses the ACIA for communications right now. My next goals for it are some sort of storage (probably SD card) and keyboard and monitor support, and I ...

Re: Commodore 64 Restoration
My board is a 250466, which I believe needs the 9v supply to generate the internal 12 volt supply. I was poking around last night and saw a supply like this, if not that very one. It did get me thinking I could use that and a hard-wired transformer to make a more permanent and neater supply box ...

Re: Commodore 64 Restoration
Thanks for the comments. I hadn't been thinking about the limitations on the USB supplies. The one I'm using at the moment seems to be working ok, but I'm sure I have some in the parts bin that are less than suitable. I do have a chunky, non-USB 5v supply from another project I could use instead, so ...

Re: Introduce yourself
Since I just created an account last night, I should say hello and thank you.
First for the thank you: I've been working on a fairly simple 6502 based SBC for a while now and have been relying heavily on the information on this site... and just this evening digging through this site gave me the ...
