I presume someone is fiddling with the theme....
We're not fiddling unnecessarily, rather the version of the forum software we were running has now reached end of life and no longer receives security updates. The old theme files don't work on the new version, so we unfortunately can't go back to ...

Re: Doc archive links pointing to web archive?
I've recently noticed that the links in the datasheet archive section of 6502.org seem to point to the internet archiv web.archive.org.
All of the datasheets are now served directly from 6502.org again. Some other documents are still being served from public mirrors but will return to the site ...

Re: Ongoing Problem with Bots / Reading Forum when Not Logge
Any idea where these IP addresses have been registered?
They are overwhelmingly from cloud hosting providers and VPN service providers, i.e. not residential.
Do you think it might be advisable, again, to require registration in order to access any of the site’s content?
I'd rather not do that ...

And a credit in there for Mike, too.
Nice, thanks for the link.
On a tangent, there is this piece on hacking the 6500/1 in the CBM VC1520 printer:

Re: AVR-based 6502 Emulator
How stable is the ATmega1284 running at 24MHz? According to AVR site, the maximum operation frequency is 20MHz. So you overclocked it with 20%. That's a lot, i think.
It has been running without any trouble using 24MHz. I am using a TTL Oscillator vs. a crystal and I do not have any IO connected ...

Re: Ongoing Problem with Bots / Reading Forum when Not Logge
The bot traffic continues but after blocking some additional IP ranges in China, the load is no longer such that it makes the forum unusable for members. I have re-enabled anonymous reading and will leave it enabled as long as the forum remains usable.

Re: Happy New Year and happy hacking in 2025!
Funny how using hex to express your age makes you seem so much younger. Women should consider it, since they always are seeking that elusive fountain of youth. :D

Re: simulator
If it makes you feel any better, I _had_ a working 6502 simulator, and in the last fortnight I added a number of the 65c02 modes and instructions to it... which appear to work well, but somewhere along the line I broke it and now I can't find why...
An approach I can recommend is writing ...

Forum Moderation
For many years, Garth Wilson and I have moderated this forum together. In this post I'm announcing that I'm giving Garth Wilson more autonomy to moderate the forum. I don't think this will be much of a change and most people probably think Garth already had this.

I've deleted a post above where a user complains about what they call "Americanisms". This forum has users from many cultures and countries, including the USA, and all users are expected to be respectful and tolerant.
