Re: 28Cxxx EEPROM Programmer

Ok, I haven't had a chance to test the new board design with 27SF512 chips yet, but I have tested it with 28C256 chips and it still works for them. I'll call that good enough to pop it back up for sale. For the record there were 8 people listed as waiting for it to come back in stock, and I only ...

Re: 28Cxxx EEPROM Programmer

Thanks you guys for the hard work!

I got a board from UnaClocker a few days ago. My old TOP2049 died, but the best part is I can finally program in Linux!

With a few transistors and a boost supply I've added the ability to program SST27SF512 and W27E512 chips. I happen to have a bunch of these ...

Re: 28Cxxx EEPROM Programmer

I sold out, all 10 of the boards I had made. I created a new board with rpress's revisions and just sent that off to the fab. I'll have to order some more eeproms to confirm the new design works. And rpress, I'll send you one of the new boards when they get here. :)

Re: 28Cxxx EEPROM Programmer

I thought you needed 12v to program the 27 series eproms.. What are you doing for the +12v?

Re: 28Cxxx EEPROM Programmer

Yeah, great work guys. When I run out of the first batch of boards, I'll redesign the board with the booster circuit, and the ZIF holes will definitely be bigger. It should be possible to build the board without the booster components, if they aren't needed/wanted.

Re: 28Cxxx EEPROM Programmer

The erase seems to work, it seems near instant. Blank Check doesn't do anything when I click it. In fact, when I click "Run Sequence" with all 4 checked, it stops on the blank check and the "Run Sequence" stays greyed out after that.
The GUI looks more refined and cleaner, I like it.

Re: 28Cxxx EEPROM Programmer

Ok, gave it a whirl with a 32k image on 28C256 chip, write in 4.6 seconds and verified correct. WAY faster than before, good job! I think it was taking 3-4 minutes on the old version.

Re: 28Cxxx EEPROM Programmer

Yeah, I'll give it a whirl this evening, I need to burn a couple chips anyways. :)

Re: 28Cxxx EEPROM Programmer

Nice, that sounds nice and fast. Technically, the Leonardo's virtual serial port is FAR faster. It's a USB device pretending to be a serial device. Somewhere on PJRC.com, he's done some speed testing with the Teensy 2.0 (the Teensy 2.0 is an Arduino compatible that was using that same chip as the ...

Re: 28Cxxx EEPROM Programmer

Excellent work, thanks! I went ahead and linked to that repository from my Tindie listing. I've got 3 of the first batch left, there was certainly a demand for the units. :) If I make some with the new booster circuit design, I'll send you one of those to play with, as well. :)

Re: 28Cxxx EEPROM Programmer

Heck yeah, I'd love to get an updated schematic. It'd be great to be able to program a greater variety of chips. I was looking at the datasheet for the 27C series chips and I didn't see a reasonable way to get the odd voltages it needs during programming.
Good job on the upgrades! :)

Re: 28Cxxx EEPROM Programmer

Yeah, I've used other EPROM burners in the past, and they worked like the last version did. When you hit DIFF, it compares whatever file you've loaded to what's currently on the EEPROM. It's just a nice way to confirm that I put what I expected to onto the EEPROM before I go and try to run my engine ...

Re: 28Cxxx EEPROM Programmer

Ok, finally had a chance to try out the new version (sold another board, went to test it after assembling). I love the new version, but.. The DIFF feature doesn't work. Freaked me out at first. Said there were quite a few bytes mismatched. Then I realized that when I click DIFF, nothing happens on ...

Re: 28Cxxx EEPROM Programmer

Wow, that was pretty quick for international shipping. :) You like the capacitor I put on there? Nice and out of the way.. :)
