In case anyone might be interested, I now have the following running on my 'modified' micro-UK101 board

UK101 (Microsoft) 8K BASIC
EhBASIC
Tiny BASIC

I have been also thinking about giving SYM-1 BASIC a shot too.

Ah.. you modified the 6850 logic to free up some address space for the slightly ...

NEW IDENTITY

Guys, I am going to start using a new identity on 6502.org. From now on, I will be using the forum account "jonb" as it seems better than "micro_brain" (dunno why I chose that one..).

Cheers

Why not create a micro-monitor with just simple I/O routines? Unless you plan to use CEGMON, you don't need it.

Indeed.. but I haven't got any 6502 experience yet (I know, it's a good start point, but this is why I bought a BBC Micro).

I would be very interested in a working binary of your ...

Yep, I've a PC running XP for much the same reason. I have just installed XP on my Mac under VMWare and I was very happy to discover that the cheap Chinese EEPROM burner works with it, so I reckon I should be able to ditch all the PC hardware. All my PCs are old, bulky, obsolete, slow and noisy ...

I built one of these a couple of years back. I can pull it out and test the program.

BTW, do not know if you solved your save and load yet, but Hyper Terminal can adjust for line and character delays. Just go into Properties, select the 'Settings' tab and click on the 'ASCII Setup' button. You see ...

Well, I do wonder how much memory BASIC is allocating for each of the elements of CL$. Considering they only need 7 or 8 bytes each, it's likely that the DIM is a pretty greedy statement.

Being a UK101 of Grant's design, it has 32k of RAM (well, 31999 bytes to be precise). Ed's correct in his ...

Unfortunately, and for some unknown reason, it crashes whilst populating CL$() (maybe it is like machine code). Which is odd, because the adventure program works just fine, and it is stuffing a load more arrays with data than this.
Could this be the well-known(!) bug in the garbage collector ...

Yes, Ed, it could. i thought that too, but I didn't know where to get a fix (thanks for that). Might be a good idea to test it on an emulator.

Need to patch the ROM & reburn... duhh...

Like I said, it's why I built the thing. endless tinkering..

Unless there is ESD protection on the board, having the ICs all connected doesn't offer a whole lot of protection. A piece of cardboard, or paper, between the board and the case should help. A piece of anti-static foam would be even better.

ESD doesn't always manifest itself as a immediate ...

Better watch out for static electricity with a plastic box like that.

Sure? If the ICs are all on the board there ought not be any problem. None observed so far, at any rate, and having it in a neat slimline case (you should see the size of the project boxes I looked at so far.. yuk too tall ...

Some new pictures. I found a Duracell promotional pack with the perfect plastic box to use as an enclosure. The board fitted in with a little trimming. I also added an on board power supply (3xAA calls; it seems to run fine on 4.5v at 2Mhz), a reset button, power switch and indicator LED.

Image no ...

Well, the CEGMON cold reset point is changeable as it is a vector, right? So that's fine, I can amend prior to burning the EPROM. What about warm reset vector? My intention is for it to work like the existing basic so I don't need to drop into the monitor to launch BASIC. I'm sure Lee has a ROM for ...

Getting EhBasic on the Micro UK101

According to Lee's EhBasic site, in order to run it on a 6502 SBC like the Micro UK101 I just completed, I the addresses of routines for input and output. Unfortunately I can't yet decipher 6502 machine code so the CEGMON disassembly so I can't see where the i/o routines are. I assume you have to ...
