Hi,

I'd like to announce the 24th annual European Vintage Computer Festival on 3rd -4th of May 2025
in Munich/Germany!

Every year the VCFe is themed on a special focus.
This year's focus is: 50 Years 6502

Which should be reason enough for posting it here, I think.

You if you happen to be in the area at that time - be sure to check by.
Even more so if you want to participate with an exhibition and/or a talk!

Absolutely! I'm sure there'll be videos online, but we'll look forward to your own photos and videos and observations and experiences there too. Post all the relevant links in case we miss them elsewhere. Thanks.

What are you complaining about? For me, I estimate it would be a seven-day drive...assuming my car stays watertight as I cross the Atlantic.

My whole neighborhood is “infested” with obsolete computer users...none of us is younger than $3C. Heck, my wife and I are planning our $50th combined birthday party to be held in May.

At least I’ve moved on from using my C-128D, although this PC I’m on right now is no spring chicken...it last received a hardware upgrade in 2013 and is running Win XP SP3.

There will be a video tour through all the exhibitions and we plan to record all the talks. I'll post anything here as it becomes available.

I’ve long had a hankering to attend one of these VCFs, but geography and time have consistently gotten in the way. It would be fun to strap on an airliner and wing it to Munich—I haven’t been in that part of the world since the mid-1980s. However, my health is such that traveling overseas is no longer practical.

Last time I attended any sort of vintage computer fair was a Commodore-oriented one that was in the Chicago area, and that was in late 1989. Jim Butterfield was a noted speaker and among other topics, waxed eloquent about the capabilities of the C-128D’s 80-column video display. He ran a demo of Basic 8 and entertained the audience with a mix of music and funny graphics. However, it seemed Amigas outnumbered the eight-bit machines at that fair.

I've often wondered how far Commodore would have pushed the eight-bit technology if they hadn’t gone all-in on the Amiga. The C-65 concept sounded like a good progression beyond the C-128 and although the 65CE02 would not have been the equal of the 65C816, it would have been a significant leap forward compared to the NMOS MPUs and the 65C02.

Oh well! Enough reminiscing.
