I just got an Apple //e and the keyboard doesn't seem to respond to anything that I type, that is, nothing I type comes up on the screen, all I get is the blinking cursor. Any ideas?

IMHO you should ask this question in an Apple related NG.

Anyway you should at least study the schematics to find out what electronics are used around the keyboard. Is it a dumm keyboard like the Commodore uses or an 'intelligent' one like the PC? If so did you try to use another keyboard? Did you replace IC's related to the keyboard?

As you can see enough things to try.

How is the -5 or -12 volts there? The older Apple 2+ used those in their keyboard circuits. The 2E is matrixed directly to the motherboard. Something in there I would check into.

replace the keyboard, it attaches via a ribbon cable. i had the same problem once, that fixed it.
