Cheap ATF22V10 Programmer?

I stupidly picked up a tube of Atmel ATF22V10s before reading about all of the problems everyone has with programming them. Before I discard them and risk ordering some potentially fake Lattice GAL22V10s from China, is anyone aware of a sub-$100 programmer that will work with the Atmel parts? I like being able to get them in days from Mouser rather than a month from China, but only if I can get a reasonably-priced programmer for them.

Interestingly, the programmer I have now is able to program something like 75% of the fuses on the device. I see blocks of eight fuses with the first six zeros and the last two ones repeating for the entire device when I try to program it with all zeros.

Edit: Updated description of programming attempt.

Were you able to find Moosfet's "colorful" description of the nuts-and-bolts here?:

Thanks for the reference, Mike. No, I didn't come across that particular reference, but it seems to confirm my worst fears about these and other related Atmel programmable logic chips. I'll forward a copy of it to the Chinese manufacturer of the programmer I have now on the off chance that they may release new firmware that will work with it. In the meantime, I think I'll take my chances on some allegedly Lattice GAL22V10s out of China since they are 15 times cheaper there than they are here in the US.

I use a VP-290, so far it's coped with all the ATF22V10 and ATF16V8 parts I've thrown at it. It's not as cheap as some of the other programmers though.

What is a VP-290 and from where did you get it?

Not sure what that was supposed to be. It loaded a Google search page. I do not use or recommend Google for anything.

Sorry, BDD. It was a clumsy but good-natured jab. Your response to my clumsy joke actually made it slightly funnier (IMHO), but I know that you have a great sense of humor, so I'll keep my apology short. The gist of it was that your favorite search engine can almost instantly answer your question, with no fuss and muss. No hard feelings, big guy?

Hi Martin,

thanks for the hint that the Wellon VP-290 supports the Atmel SPLDs. I think the price is reasonable even for hobbyists budget.

And thanks to the others for those funny links

Actually, I did an Ixquick search for VP-290 and came up with references to all sorts of malarkey, none having to do with programming GALs.

An ixquick search for VP-290 gives me a whole page of links to the Wellon VP-290 programmer. The first link is very slow, the second one is in Polish, but the third one works well and provides some useful info: https://www.kanda.com/products/Wellon/VP-290.html
