Does anybody know where I can get a couple of these crystals? The only place I have found is somewhere in the East and min buy is in the hundreds!! Thanks

For under five bucks, you can get a real clock oscillator (TTL or CMOS), programmed to any frequency up to 150MHz...

I use these all the time for oddball frequencies.
Probably less than a custom cut resonator.

Yes, Digikey (or Mouser, or Jameco, or...) shipping is ludicrous for a single item. It becomes more reasonable when you're ordering a small pile of stuff, though. Is padding your order out with supplies for another project or two an option?

Indeed. Desperate times and all that, I've just found a Toshiba MSX for (latest bid) £23 + £7.50 shipping, I could rip the crystal of the MB and yank out the keyboard for my TLC-MBC. Bidding ends at 11 in the morning so I'll have a look at the latest bid for it then and if it's not much more I might try and out-bid for it....

Shipping charges from distributors are not based on the cost of a part, but the time it takes to get the part from stock, put it in a baggie or whatever, tag it, pack it and ship it. It would cost the same to ship a box of air as it would 20 crystals. It is what it is.... which is why I tend to build up a parts list with one of the distributors over time and finally place the order when I get it high enough so the shipping costs are more reasonable based on what I'm buying. Sadly, not everything is ebay with free shipping from China ;-(

I have somewhere between a quarter million and half million parts here, including hundreds of crystals and crystal oscillators, so I was hoping to be of help, but I just checked my stock and that's one frequency I don't have.

A little OT, but why the relatively odd frequency?

I have a TMS9929 from way back, and I'd like to hook it up to my TLC-MBC. I could use a 6545 but I'm greedy - I want color and gfx. I haven't written it up yet, but I'm currently using Grant Searl's ATMEGA328 circuit, it's okay in a pinch but there's no gap between the lines of text making it hard on the eyes.
