Intel 8243's!

There is a circuit that I want to build which uses 8243's!

Ok now I am going to try and get ahold of some but if I cant - is there anything similar to the intel 8243 which might be more popular (easier to get retail).

If you dont know what I'm talking about but might know of somthing similar to the below description:

Basically I'm talking about the 8243 which have 4 bi-directional ports, address/data-mode selectable via a prog pin and its edge triggered. Its was origionally used as an address expander for small micro's but I want it for a parallel port project. :roll:
