Thanks for the examples Druzyek, always good to see various ways things can be done.
You're quite right, we do get a lot of Q&A threads here, and most of the time there is a project behind the question, but it's still good to have the question and the answers be general and be useful as a reference for future visitors. So, such a thread might be project-related but isn't project-specific.
I am reminded of something: I don't manage to do many things myself, but relatively often I find things which might be of interest to others, and sometimes they could be described as projects. It would need to be clear enough - or not matter - as to whether such findings belong in this place or that place.
As categorisation is so difficult (noisy, ambiguous) I rather like having the 'general' forum always being there as a good place to post. We already notice - or I do - that there's reluctance to start a thread, and so the fewer barriers, the better. Arguably an additional forum is a help, or arguably it's a hindrance, but this is a consideration. It's very helpful that Mike has given each forum a tagline.
Project forum
Re: Project forum
Hmm, I wonder why it appears to be difficult to open a thread if someone is going to start a (new) project and wishes other to participate?
The only question might be: where should I place the new thread? But - as I have done - just ask BigEd or Garth for a suggestion. You won't wait long
But using this post I am asking the moderators: there is a top level index:
SBC- Series Projects
Topics related to the SBC- series of printed circuit boards, designed by Daryl Rictor and popular with many 6502.org visitors.
This looks opened once exclusively for designs from Daryl. But some "alien" designs have posted there as well. Is this sub category open for anyone? (Then I would suggest changing/updating the description a little bit.)
Cheers,
Arne

Re: Project forum
That's a pretty good idea - while Daryl's SBCs were at one time the biggest news in the land of 6502 self-build and group-buy, it would (for me) be fine to re-derive SBC as Single Board Computers generally, and update the description accordingly.

Now that you mentioned it, I looked at the two POC topics and was a bit alarmed by how much blather is in them. I almost feel like I need a table of contents in the lead post of each topic.
And yes, although it's a little extra work, a link back to previous threads, or a link to a suitable search, is a good idea. As you can link to a search which contains both the author and a keyword from the thread title, it's easy enough to re-use the same link every time.
For me, marshalling the threads which interrelate is just part of the effort of documentation: a little more effort makes for a much better outcome.
