No need to apologize. Topics on this forum are often about projects that take many years to complete, and starting a new topic about the same thing has two undesirable effects: it loses continuity with what was already discussed, and clutters the forum unnecessarily with another topic in the index, making it harder to find something later. You did the right thing.
