Looks like the whole site is restored now!
I will take more frequent backups - every two weeks isn't enough, now that more people are actively posting.
(This time, the recovery was not from our own backups, but from the hosting company's, but I'd prefer not to have to rely on those.)
Cheers
Ed

Much appreciated, Ed -- not just the advisory, but also the work you & Dajgoro are doing behind the scenes. Three cheers! :!: :D

Ahem, short hiatus there as I took another backup.

Woohoo! :D

And yes, I'll second that. A big thanks to the admins for their efforts! Folks don't always realize the amount of labor involved in keeping things up and running smoothly. Three cheers indeed!

Dajgoro indicated that he had set up an account through which he wanted to collect some money for moving the host for the forum. I tried to send some money using my Paypal account, and the transaction was rejected. Has anyone here attempted to contribute money through Paypal and had the transaction go through?

Anycpu.org is currently using a shared hosting with some other websites, which makes it vulnerable to malicious attacks. The solution is to get a separate hosting for anycpu.org. Since I don't have money to pay for it, I started a pitchin donation widget and uploaded it to the main site: http://anycpu.org/

Edit:

It should work now, I never had anyone send me money trough paypal before.

Donated $25 to keep this thing up. It's not my direct interest at the moment, but hopefully a good source of information and feedback in the future.
Currently I'm working on a Signetics 2650 CPU based video console from the late 70s for a university project. That might be some useful stuff for the anycpu forum.

Mario.

Just FYI, Dajgoro is going through the final steps now to bring up the new anycpu.org which should look exactly like the old one. Thanks to everyone who donated towards the hosting costs.

Once it's back up:
Any problems, please PM us on anycpu or, if that's not working, post or PM here.

Those of you who use the anycpu.org forums may have noticed that the site went down ...
Just a heads-up: anycpu is down again, and Dajgoro is aware, but we may need to wait a couple of days to get the hosting company to sort it out. Watch this space!
