GARTHWILSON: I was being facetious but your response gave me an idea. I might be able to solder XR8400. That is the design with 47 DIP chips on both sides of 100mm*100mm PCB to implement quad rational DAC. I subsequently
outlined an eight channel sample and hold circuit with superior audio output; partly because it is easier to solder. However, XR8400 remains preferable for motor applications.
47 DIP chips looked perfectly fine on screen. However, when I received manufactured boards, I had no idea how I would solder them. Now I have a plan. If I cut one DIP socket in half then I can solder half of a socket on one side, all of the enclosing socket on the other side then the remainder of the first socket.
