I know the Apple 1 sent video information to port B of a PIA. But what I don't understand, is how the PIA (and whatever helper chips) actually serialized the composite signal.

When I search for the Apple 1 schematics, I can't find anything that is clear. Looking at the original manual from the Byte Computer Shop, it doesn't provide much in that area. Only that a PIA is used.

I found another schematic on Archive but it has "Colby" written all over it and is of poor quality.
