It was 18 months in the making... but finally I am pleased to announce the release of 8bit-Slicks for the Apple//e, Atari XL, and C64, just in time for the Xmas holiday!

The game supports up-to 4 players, local or online (using the Uthernet, DragonCart or RR-Net).

So make sure to download the game and join us for some racing fun this holiday season!

Cheers, Tony (aka 8bit-Dude)

P.S: Feel free to repost this news and spread the word, the more players online the merrrier!!!

That's awesome! I'll have to check that out. I own all three systems. Would be cool to see them racing each other!

BTW, that's some impressive graphics for the Apple IIe.

That's impressive collection you have then! Do you own ethernet cart/card for each of them??

Standing on the shoulders of giants! I heavily used the Double Hi-res code by Bill Buckles (https://www.bytecellar.com/2015/02/07/b ... this-week/)

Oh, that's nothing. I have anywhere between 80 - 90 vintage computers. I seriously don't know how many I have. I have started a spreadsheet to catalog them all. The last official count was about 4 years ago and that's when I had them all in one room. It was 55 IIRC. I buy around 10-20 computers a year so yeah. I'm obsessed. In my spreadsheet, I'm at 45 or so that are cataloged and I know I'm nowhere near finished.

Unfortunately, I've been so obsessed with obtaining the computers that I own very little modern enhancements for them. I have a wireless modem for them (forgot the name but it's pretty common) that works with RS-232. Some of my vintage Macs have Ethernet. It's on my bucket list to start adding more modern peripherals soon.

Tony,

Nice job with the game !

I tried it with Winvice (sadly .. no real C64 here .... yet ).

Heh, wondering if my logitech wheel / pedals will work with Winvice ? ... will have to try that.

I wonder how difficult it would be to add a lap timer ?

I'm thinking maybe a combination of sprite - graphics collision detection and / or the start-gate coordinates in the map might be a way to do it ?

I also downloaded your map tutorial, and will give it a try ("Toronto Indy track ? : )

Mike

I might add a lap timer in a future version. But game already uses much of the memory, because of the TCP/IP stack.
Looking foward to what you will come up with map-wise!!!
