A couple of years ago I did some installation/maintainance work on a medical information system called EMIS. I discovered it was originally Egton Medical Information System written by a doctor in Egton, North Yorkshire, on a BBC Micro.
My party's original canvassing database system Election Agent Record System was originally written on a Beeb by an activist just sitting down and doing it.
