hi to the comunity..

It is a quite one year I play around a commodore 1541 disk drive project ..at the moment i just strated to set up the memory map using some decoder, but my idea is to put in the system (1541) the ability to view usb hd I mean the 1541 system will control the data on the usb key.(file system etc), to be honest I used a lot of this site ideas to go on :-)

I am looking for an usb ic capable to be a contoller who can be easly interfaced in memory or as I/O with a 6502 CPU.

Please let me know any ic model even old who can be used for this idea.

thanks for any suggestions.

Antonio

See http://www.6502.org/forum/viewtopic.php ... ht=cypress

The Cypress chip seems quite capable.

BTW, you're not going to find a USB host adapter that isn't surface mount, and which doesn't have metric tons of pins on them. Most assume a 32-bit wide bus, and a bus speed far, far, far faster than the 6502 inside the 1541. But, if you're thrifty enough, you might be able to make it work.

You might want to take a look at our MicroUSB Project at http://www.microusb.org/. We have developed an USB Host Adapter for 6502 based Homecomputers, including Atari XL/XE, Commodore C=64 and Apple II.

The hardware schematics can be found in the SoureceForge Projects File area: http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/micr ... art_11.PDF

THe SL811HS should work with an 1541, and we are currently working on FAT and VFAT code. We can currenty read and write sectors and decode the FAT Table, listing the drives directory.

Goal is to have a full USB Flashstick / Harddrive Driver.

Assembled USb Carts can be ordered from Steve Tucker at http://www.atarimax.com. You can open the Cartridge Cover and connect the USB Cart Board with your computer for prototyping. Glenn Jones had done similar for the Apple II: http://www.strotmann.de/twiki/bin/view/ ... SBAppleTwo

It seems to me that we are all working on similar projects. Lets work together!

Best regards

Carsten Strotmann
