I'm looking at the WDC 65C22 datasheet on the 6502.org website, and I'm attempting to print it via CUPS on Linux. However, it's just not happening. I can view the PDF of it on the screen just fine. But when I print it, the printer hangs, and the job aborts.

When I printed to a Postscript file, and attempted to view with GV (which uses the same Ghostview back-end as CUPS), I got a Postscript error. So, the error clearly seems to be with Ghostview.

BUT...

I can both print and view the Postscript output of *other* PDFs I have in my library just fine. Therefore, there seems to be something inside the WDC PDF files that are sending Ghostscript into fits.

Does anyone happen to have a version of the PDF datasheet for the WDC 65C22 that *does* print on Linux using CUPS?

I'm using CUPS 1.1.23, latest version, with an HP 5470 via the hpijs driver, also latest version.

Please try to print one of the datasheets from here:

These are the older versions of the WDC datasheets. They were supplied to me in Microsoft Word format by WDC and I converted them to PDF for distribution. The current ones were provided to me already in PDF. If you can use the older ones successfully, I will see if I can remaster the other ones in Acrobat.

For what its worth; I've just printed the March 2004 version - the one on the main WD docs page - through my linux system, amazingly, no problems.

The route is a bit tortuous: Mandrake 10.2 on my laptop, download and display with kghostview, and print (from within kghostview) across the wifi to a Tally T9212 (I think it's a samsung internally) which is shared from a W2k box.
