640.000$ for an Apple 1

I found the news on a local Croatian portal, but a quick Google search and i got the English version:
http://www.cultofmac.com/205630/working-apple-i-sells-for-record-640000-at-german-auction/

Vintage 6502 machines became really expensive stuff. :D

(sigh...)

So, back in 1978 I bought one of these used for $300 from a local computer shop. I kept it for 1 week and returned it to buy a OSI Superboard as the OSI had built in basic, keyboard, serial interface, video, etc... for $20 less.

(sigh...)

Yea, I would have learned cabinet and furniture making instead and still have a shop filled with useful tools that would make Norm Abrahm weep instead of a bunch of utterly obsolete boxes gathering dust and simply waiting for me to pull the trigger and ship them off to e-waste.

Would've, should've, could've...fortunately I did develop skills in areas other than computers (I was a certified weldor at one time) and have lots of tools, as well as some shop machines for metal fabrication. I don't use them to make money anymore, but they sure come in handy for other things.

Unfortunately, the shame does not end there. I bought some shares for just over $4 in 1998 and unloaded them for just over $11 in 2002. Well, I made some money, right! 8) :?

I wouldn't pay $640000 for an Apple I, but I consider my current MacBook Pro good value for the money I paid. The same goes for the previous one I had, and the one before that.
