Indeed so - I noticed that in a 65816 manual... and then thought I should ignore it, because it's not 6502!

It is on 65c02 though. It's not cofined to 65816/802.

65c02 clears the D flag upon RST, IRQ, and NMI, and of course these set the I flag on all the processors in the family.

Thanks Garth - I've re-adjusted my post. I did originally and erroneously think that BIT# was 816 only, but then checked at http://www.llx.com/~nparker/a2/opcodes.html
