Thanks André!
Bonus points to the author, Morten Sabroe Mortensen, for mentioning both the 65k and the 65Org16.

He has a lot to say about the C64 specifically - he is in fact seeking, or wishing for, a future for that platform.

Cheers
Ed

He is not the only one. The original C64 design embodies smart hardware design. This is why it lives to today!

You can tell a hardware design engineer was in charge back then, not someone on the board of directors or etc, etc, etc. Smart people buy smart machines. And we are not in the majority....

However, we know enough about our machines, in that we wish to absolutely control them. And if, for any reason it has a failure we will investigate to the ends of the earth. I will end this rant before it begins.

I had some trouble with the link, I could not increase the font size by hitting 'ctrl-+', as I usually do (I prefer to have a large monitor far away, due to my multifocal glasses). But that page refused to increase the font size.. until I removed the '?m=1' from the end of the link. So the link which works for me is:

Thanks for that. I often use readability.com when websites are uncooperative or when I'm using a device with poor presentation
For example this

Regarding a more futuristic 6502alike, I was pretty impressed by the TOMI architecture. It's effectively got 3 512-byte data cache lines, which act as registers. Reading & writing those to memory occur in a single cycle, as this is a tiny CPU put right onto the DRAM silicon itself.

They market it for Big Data type uses, but it'd be a great hobbyist platform from what I can tell, if you need lots of memory.
